Extracted from the Original Court Records of Augusta County" by Lyman Chalkley. 11 Jan 1777 Father Daniel Maupin conveys his land to son Jesse Maupin and retains a life estate for himself and his wife Margaret: “I Daniel Maupin of the parish of Fredericksville and County of Albemarle for divers Good Causes and Considerations but more Especially in consideration of marriage do give and bequeath to my son Jesse Maupin my Tract of Land whereon I now live … the sd Jesse Maupin … shall for Ever after the Decease of myself and the Decease of Margaret my well beloved wife peaceably and Quietly have … the sd Tracts of Land and Premices … signed Daniel Maupin; witnesses-Jeremiah Yancey, Daniel Maupin, and Sarah Maupin.” Recorded in Albemarle County Deed Book 7 in June Court 1777] (transcript) [appears to have been originally recorded 3 Nov 1775] [Albemarle County Deed Book 7, p.72, seems to indicate that Jesse sells this land to Christopher Harris on 18 Nov 1777 and references the life estate of his “father and mother, namely Daniel Maupin and Margaret his wife.” This is confusing as data shows that Daniel died in 1788 and Margaret in 1789 a decade after this sale of their land]

VA; Jesse Maupin emigrated from Albemarle County, Va., to Madison County, Ky., and acquired property on Taylor's Fork of Silver Creek, near Milford or Old Town.
